Balaton Boglar

Location and Topography: The Balatonboglár Wine Region consists of 5 separate areas on the Southern shore of Lake Balaton and further South. Balatonboglár Wine Region is centered on the towns of Marcalo, Balatonboglár, Balatonelle, and Balaton Foldvar.
History: Prior to 2001 this region was appropriately named Del Balaton, literally South Balaton. Its new name is more often associated with Balaton Boglar (shortened to BB), one of Hungary's largest producers of sparkling wines.

Climate:

The shallow waters on the Southern shore of the Balaton have less effect in the autumn that the deeper waters off the North shore amnd the region is noticably colder because of this. Rainfall is higher than the other Balaton regions.

Wine Styles Elegant white wines, rich in fragrance with soft acids and light red wines.
